On the 13th of April the time had finally come again: Our training “Learning through travelling” set it’s sail again. On board: 13 scholars from the Roland Berger Foundation from all over Germany, two supervisors, the project management and the two tour guides Veronika Mercks and Frederike Bock. The adventure – the journey to the self – took place in the youth hostel of Bad Hersfeld. The city is known as a spa and festival town in the heart of the “Waldhessen” region. Besides other cultures, the five days also dealt with changing perspectives, expanding the comfort zone and dealing with challenges. It also dealt with trusting the community and one’s own potential as well as self-reflection. The wellness aspect, which shouldn’t be missing in Bad Hersfeld as a spa town, was not forgotten: the participants came to rest through breathing techniques, small meditations and other mindfulness elements. An evening program was offerered to the teenagers at the end of the day. Especially the German movie “WEIT” about two travellers who travel the world without flying motivated the young people to go on their own journey one day. Also a campfire with bread stick was not missing. The participants started curiously and openly on the journey and let themselves be carried away by other cultures and insights about themselves and others. Therefore, there was also a bit of sadness when it went back to everyday life after five days and each crew member made his own way. It gave us so much pleasure to travel with such great adventurers!

Some Voices of the participants
“Learning through” travelling supported me to learn for my life.
In this seminar I got to know both: my strengths and my weaknesses.
Veronika and Rike were very helpful and always listened to me. I am now more aware of what I can achieve everything.
“Learning through travelling” has not only helped me to get excited about travelling, it has also helped me on my journey to myself.
The whole experience was very personal and touching, definitely something I would not want to miss and would like to repeat.
